The trek starts at the Khmu-village of Ban Huay Lo 40 km north of Luang Prabang and gets along the mountain ridges to Ban Mok Chung of the Hmong. The trail is continuously going uphill to Pha Peung, home to Khmu tribe located at 197 m above sea level. Discover the Hmong-culture in the host village for dinner and the night at Ban Mok Chung.
Trek further into the rugged and densely forested mountains west of the Nam Ou valley and enjoy the most stunning mountainous scenery. The path leads through untouched remote bamboo forest and limestone cliffs. Break at the Khmu-village of Ban Na Savang for lunch. In the afternoon, hike to Ban Houay Kok. Dinner and overnight at the village.
Continuation of the trek passing Huay Kha village of the Khmu. Enjoy the superb landscape with the mighty waterfalls Tad Ngai and Tad Noi. Relax or swim in the cool water and have lunch in the pure green atmosphere. After refreshment, follow the path to the banks of the Nam Ou River and hit Lao Leu, one of the remote village in Ban Pak Chaek in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the village.
Experience the local boat ride to cross Nam Ou River. Continue walking along the valley, passing the rice fields, Huay Thuom, Yha Nang Villages of the Khmu ethnic. Picnic lunch. The trek ends at Huay Oun village for dinner and overnight.
Today comes a new challenge. Warm up by walking through the field where the Hmong people are paining gold and head the Pha Pon Golden Mountain. The path becomes sloping and goes up to the top of the mountain where an extraordinary panorama can be seen. Picnic lunch and relax. The trek continues and ends at Ban Hat Huay. Dinner and overnight at the village.
Transfer on an off road through a spectacular limestone landscape to Ban Na Pho. Arrival at Nam Xeuang river. Basic paddle instruction and practice will be done. Start a quite easy stretch on the river through rapids of grade 1-2. Arrival at the check-point. Enjoy a Lao style picnic lunch at a scenic spot on the riverside. Time for swimming and relaxing! Adventurers can jump off cliffs into the cool and deep Nam Xeuang! Free time to explore the village of Ban Houa Sking and listening to the locals telling fascinating stories about their life during the war. Dinner and overnight in Luang Prabang.
In the morning, paddle further down the Nam Xeuang. After lunch, the challenge comes to the peak, a thrilling experience for beginners and an extreme enthusiasm for advanced paddlers when the rapids reach strengths of grade 2-4. The finish line is scheduled at Ban Hat Khang for transfer back to Luang Prabang.
