Explore the small town of Sapa hidden under the roof of Indochina and get touch of the original culture of different ethnics living in the remote areas of the mighty Hoang Lien Son massif range.
Welcome by the local guide at the airport and transfer to the city. Hanoi, capital of Vietnam since XI century, offers to the world its very authentic aspect: old temples, ancient traditional trading corners, narrow streets, and colonial quarters with wide tree-lined avenues, lakes and green parks and villas reminiscent of a French town of the 30s. In the afternoon visit Hanoi highlights: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum square, One Pillar Pagoda built in the early 11th century, Quan Thanh temple, Temple of Literature, Sword Lake and Ngoc Son temple, the old quarters. In the evening transfer to Hanoi Railways Station for a night train to Lao Cai (ETD: 2030).
After breakfast in Lao Cai, we will be transferred to Bac Ha for the largest weekly ethnic fair of the region (only available on Sundays). Different ethnic minorities from the remote villages come to the market to sell their homemade products and enjoy the Thang Co – special soup of the H’Mong. We visit the market and explore the people with their colorful traditional clothes and traditions. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we take a drive downhill towards Lao Cai. Stop on the way for a short walk to Trung Do village inhabited by Tay people. We will meet the local people and listen to them talking about their daily life as well as their customs. A Tay family welcomes us to its traditional house for a cup of tea. We leave the village and take a boat cruise upstream the Chay River to contemplate the spectacular scenery on both sides. The boat trip ends at Bao Nhai bridge where the vehicle is waiting for us for transfer to Sapa. Overnight in 3* hotel.
In the morning, We visit Lao Chai, a village of the Black H’mong. We continue walking to Ta Van village – home to Zay people, a fairly small minority group who live mainly in the mountains in Northwest Vietnam. After lunch in Sapa, we take a drive to Ta Phin where we can witness the unmixed cultural life of Black Hmong and Red Dao minorities, the two largest ethnic groups living in the same area. We have chance to contact the local people, visit their traditional house and explore their daily life. Transfer to Lao cai for night train to Hanoi.
